Serving at
the Share House
For several years Zion has sent a crew of 4-6 volunteers the
1st and 2nd Saturdays of every month to the Share House (homeless
shelter in Vancouver) to cook and serve a meal there. It takes about two
hours. The volunteers enjoy the time there and feel it's a very worthwhile
project. The list of volunteers is rotated so each person works maybe every
3rd month. If you would enjoy being a part of this project please phone the
church office.
Inter-faith
Treasure House
The Inter-faith Treasure House helps people in need with
food, clothing and other essentials. They are always looking for
volunteers to help and donations of non-perishable food items.
Mexico
Mission 2007
This summer Zion youth and adults will be going to Tecate
Mexico to help build houses for families in need. This trip promises to be a
great opportunity to serve others and have fun as we grow in our Christian
faith! Wondering how you can help out?
Attention
Gardeners!
During the summer/early fall months, as gardens begin to bless with
bounty, a picnic table in the patio becomes Zion's Harvest Table for World
Hunger, which features a variety of garden produce, berries, fruits, flowers
- whatever is abundant. This is where you come in. If you
have garden space, consider planting a few extra rows or plants in order to
help supply the Table. If you don't garden or harvest anything,
consider shopping at the Table. No set prices, pay what you you wish
and buy only what you want. All donations go to World Hunger,
which in turn uses 94% of their funds directly to purchase food,
development, and self-sufficiency education. Nothing will be wasted -
any produce not taken home will go to the Treasure House the next day for
food boxes or given for local need.
